Zhang Guanghua and Pan Jing, a young academic couple from Taiyuan University, have been working side by side in their respective fields in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, for several years.

Zhang, who graduated with a doctorate from Chongqing University, currently serves as deputy director of the science and technology department and a mentor for master's students at Taiyuan University.

Pan, on the other hand, is a postdoctoral fellow at the National Center for Nanoscience of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and now serves as the head of the new energy materials and devices teaching and research office at Taiyuan University.

Zhang first came to Taiyuan in 2018 and was immediately impressed by the city's working environment and cheerful atmosphere. After talking with Pan, who was still in Beijing at that time and expecting a child, they decided to move their family to Taiyuan.

"The talent policies in Taiyuan are very supportive. Both my wife and I receive doctoral subsidies and relocation allowances. The university also provides us with apartment housing. This allows us to focus completely on our teaching and research work," Zhang said.

In recent years, Taiyuan has been committed to improving the working and living conditions for high-level talent, addressing their concerns, and helping them settle down and achieve a sense of belonging, accomplishment, and happiness.
