The 2023 China (Taiyuan) Artificial Intelligence Conference was held on Oct 15 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province. 

The conference was co-sponsored by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, the Chinese Association of Automation, the China Youth and Children Development Service Center, the CPC Taiyuan Municipal Committee, the Taiyuan municipal government, the CPPCC Taiyuan Municipal Committee, Shanxi Department of Science and Technology, and Shanxi Department of Industry and Information Technology. 

It aimed to promote the deep integration of AI and the manufacturing industry, accelerating the optimization of industries. 

During the conference, industry experts, scholars, and China's corporate leaders delivered speeches and carried out in-depth discussions on topics such as the development of AI, the influence of the digital economy on advanced manufacturing, and the construction of a modern industrial system. 

Three sub-forums were held on the topics of industrial digitization and transformation, AI and intelligent mining, and youth AI education and scientific communication.

A promotional and agreement signing ceremony on the digital economy and AI was also held at the conference, with agreements inked on 25 projects based on a total investment of 11.26 billion yuan ($1.55 billion). 

An exhibition on the theme of the digital economy and the AI industry was also held at the same time. This showcased various applications and functional areas in industrial manufacturing, warehousing logistics, intelligent companionship, healthcare, emergency security, and special operations, with over 1,000 advanced robot exhibits, core components, and solutions from 61 industry-leading companies and research platforms in China on display. 

In recent years, Taiyuan has increased both its policy and funding support, solidified the foundation of internet and computing centers, and developed innovation platforms, building a stronger foundation for the development of the AI industry.
