Two districts in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, were named on the list of China's top 100 main urban districts for comprehensive competitiveness in 2022. 

Yingze and Xiaodian districts ranked 85th and 96th respectively on the list published by the National Academy of Economic Strategy. 

A prerequisite to be eligible for this list, a district's regional gross domestic product must be more than 70 billion yuan ($10.04 billion).

Yingze district is the downtown area of Taiyuan, and it was recognized as one of the top 100 national green development districts in 2019, one of China's top 100 smart counties in 2020, and one of the top 100 counties for e-commerce competitiveness in 2021. 

Xiaodian district, the center of the city's southward development, generated 142.52 billion yuan in GDP last year, ranking first among the counties and districts in Taiyuan. In the first 10 months of this year, the district's comprehensive ranking for investment promotion indicators ranked first in the city.
