A roundtable meeting of foreign diplomats in China was held in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on Aug 31, as part of the upcoming 2022 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum (TELC).

Diplomats from 20 countries in Asia, Europe, Central America, South America, and Africa attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Lin Wu, Party secretary of Shanxi, welcomed the envoys to Shanxi to take part in the TELC on Sept 1-3.

He said that Shanxi has achieved important progress in promoting reform in energy consumption, supply, technology, systems and international cooperation.

The province has boosted intelligent, green, and safe coal mining and efficient and deep utilization of coal, stabilized coal production, increased the proportion of advanced coal production capacity, and accelerated the energy-saving and carbon-reducing transformation of running thermal power units. 

It has also developed new energy sources such as photovoltaic, hydrogen, geothermal and wind power by constructing related projects and improving the safe and reliable supply capacity of new energy. 

Lin added that Shanxi has been committed to expanding the TELC's global influence and carrying out closer cooperation in global energy. 

He hopes that Shanxi will work with other countries to further cooperation on energy technology research, achievement transformation, and project construction, and share the new opportunities brought about by the energy revolution. 

The diplomats in China spoke highly of the remarkable achievements of China and Shanxi province in efficiently coordinating epidemic prevention and control and socioeconomic development, expressing their strong desire to deepen cooperation in the energy field and sharing their ideas and experiences in exploring a green and low-carbon development path.

They said that TELC has been developing into a high-end dialogue, achievement release and international cooperation matchmaking platform in the energy field.
