A promotional meeting on the joint construction of a national regional medical center by Peking University First Hospital and the Taiyuan municipal government was recently held in Beijing.

The two sides discussed the construction plan for the Taiyuan Hospital of Peking University First Hospital in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province.

Peking University First Hospital will apply its management system and medical technology team to the construction of the Taiyuan Hospital of Peking University First Hospital based on eight major departments of the Taiyuan Central Hospital of Shanxi Medical University. 

Through the cooperation, the two sides aim to develop the Taiyuan Hospital of Peking University First Hospital into a national regional medical center with optimal resource allocation, leading discipline development, excellent medical technology, and satisfactory medical services in five to 10 years. 

The construction of the national regional medical center will promote the balanced distribution of high-quality medical resources so that patients don't have to travel long distances to receive medical care.

Founded in 1915, Peking University First Hospital has developed a number of strong disciplines and cultivated many medical experts throughout its 107 years of growth.
