North China's Shanxi province will unblock nine major logistics channels with the provincial capital of Taiyuan at the core, according to Shanxi Development and Reform Commission on Nov 23.
The nine major logistics channels consist of four domestic logistics channels, four international logistics channels, and one aviation logistics channel.
The four domestic logistics channels will work to achieve an effective connection between logistics channels in Shanxi and across China.
The logistics channel between Shanxi and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will strengthen the outbound transportation of resources and energy in central and northern Shanxi, while the logistics channel from Shanxi to the Yangtze River Delta region will strengthen manufacturing cooperation and trade exchanges between central Shanxi, Changzhi city, southeastern Jincheng city, urban agglomerations in the central plains of China, and developed regions in the Yangtze River Delta.
The channel from Shanxi to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will strengthen exchanges of manufacturing and agricultural products between Shanxi and the bay area. And the channel from Shanxi to the Qingdao-Yinchuan High-speed Railway and the Qingdao-Lanzhou Highway will strengthen Shanxi's freight transit.
The four international logistics channels from Shanxi to Horgos (Alashankou) in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Ereenhot and Manzhouli in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Pingxiang Port in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will strengthen freight links with Central Asia and Europe, and trade and economic cooperation with Mongolia and Europe, as well as connect with South and Southeast Asia.
Shanxi will build an airport cluster in North China centered on Taiyuan, which will coordinate branch airports in Yuncheng, Datong, Wutaishan, Changzhi, Linfen, and Lyuliang and connect with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Inner Mongolia region.
It will accelerate the reconstruction and expansion of the Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, build an international air cargo base, and strengthen air cargo connections between Taiyuan and major cities around the world.
By the end of 2020, Shanxi's railway operating mileage had reached 6,247 kilometers, with high-speed rail services covering all cities in the province. The province has formed a three-hour high-speed railway circle with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Xi'an, and Zhengzhou.
Its road mileage accessible to major cities and economic circles in China amounted to 144,000 km, of which highway mileage accounted for 5,744.6 km.
Airports in the province have launched air services to 69 domestic and 18 international cities, having established domestic flights to major domestic cities, as well as three intercontinental flights.
