The Yangqu Modern Agricultural Industry Demonstration Zone in the city of Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, has led the city's modern agricultural development.

With a planned area of 141.4 square kilometers and excellent agricultural production conditions, the demonstration zone is a high-quality base for growing vegetables, fruits, and grains and one of 12 provincial-level modern agricultural industry demonstration zones in Shanxi.

Since its establishment in February 2019, the demonstration zone has signed agreements for a total of 18 projects receiving a total of 1.59 billion yuan ($249.57 million) in investment.

To improve the local business environment, the demonstration zone has authorized 48 administrative examination and approval items and 37 supervision items to provide convenient services related to construction projects and enterprises setting up operations in the zone.

The demonstration zone has worked to bring in more construction projects focusing on the six major industries of standardized agricultural production, intensive processing of agricultural products, agricultural research demonstration, warehousing and logistics, agricultural leisure tourism and comprehensive services. The zone's rate of contracted and commissioned projects and the efficiency of currently operating projects all ranked first among development zones in Taiyuan.
