Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province, generated 143.29 billion yuan ($22.45 billion) in foreign trade from January to September, according to a statement released by the Taiyuan Customs on Oct 26.
The value of foreign trade during the period accounted for 84.1 percent of the province's total and represented year-on-year growth of 90.6 percent.
Respectively, the city's exports increased 98.4 percent to 90.01 billion yuan and its imports grew 78.9 percent to 53.28 billion yuan, accounting for 86.1 percent and 81 percent of the province's total exports and imports.
The imports and exports of the Wusu Comprehensive Bonded Zone and other bonded logistics centers in the city reportedly grew by leaps and bounds during the first three quarters.
For example, the imports and exports of the Wusu Comprehensive Bonded Zone reached 27.33 billion yuan, ranking it 32nd among comprehensive bonded areas in China and up 10.1 times year-on-year.
