Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, will achieve postal express delivery access to no less than 80 percent of its villages before the end of 2021, according to the Taiyuan municipal postal administration.

The administration announced on Aug 5 that it will develop urban and rural joint distribution, smart logistics and cold chain logistics networks in the city.

It will standardize the construction of efficient urban and rural distribution centers and distribution terminals, as well as accelerate the coordinated development of e-commerce, express deliveries and logistics.

In addition, the city will fully implement a three-year action plan for express deliveries to villages, promote the establishment of express agencies in villages, develop a variety of postal express modes, and install smart express boxes and express service stations in rural areas.

A Taiyuan municipal postal administration official said support from county-level Party committees and governments in the city will be given in promoting innovative rural logistics and expanding express delivery infrastructure in rural areas.

The overall aim is to improve the efficiency of rural express deliveries and reduce transportation costs.
