The Taiyuan Zhongbei High-tech Industrial Development Zone – formerly known as the Taiyuan Stainless Steel Industrial Park and located in Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province – was officially renamed by Shanxi Provincial Government in April 2020.
The development zone is located in Jiancaoping district of Taiyuan and boasts efficient and convenient transportation. It is 2.5 kilometers away from the Beijing-Kunming Highway, close to several municipal roads – including Yangxing Avenue and Wohushan Road – and is a half-hour drive to downtown Taiyuan, Taiyuan South Railway Station and Taiyuan Wusu International Airport.
The zone's main development industries operate in the new generation of information technology, as well as in new materials and intelligent manufacturing.
It has formed an IT application innovation industrial cluster with complete support facilities and a complete industrial system, a new materials industrial cluster led by Taiyuan Taigang Daming Metal Products Co and Jinshan Magnetic Material Co, as well as a smart manufacturing industrial cluster, with Taiyuan Boiler Group and OMH Science Group active.
There are six entrepreneurship incubators, including one national tech incubator, more than 200 incubating enterprises and makers, as well as over 1,800 employees in the development zone.
In 2020, industrial investment in the Taiyuan Zhongbei High-tech Industrial Development Zone hit 1.18 billion yuan ($183.16 million), for remarkable year-on-year growth of 138.4 percent.
The added value of industries above a designated size was 2.03 billion yuan, up 23.7 percent year-on-year. The number of high-tech enterprises there surged to 39, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent and the amount of foreign capital spent was $146,400.
