Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group Co (TISCO), based in Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, has ranked first in the metallurgical industry in the evaluation of national enterprise technological innovation capabilities.

The company has taken the lead in carrying out employee vocational skill assessment and improvement, with employees who have obtained intermediate and above-level vocational qualification certificates accounting for 86 percent of the total employees.

Over the past 41 years, more than 20,000 of the company's employees have participated in professional technical competitions every year. TISCO has cultivated one winner of the Chinese Skills Award, 19 national technical experts, 45 Shanxi technical experts, four Shanxi craftspeople and 31 Taiyuan craftspeople.

It produces more than 350 innovations each year, ranking 10th in the evaluation of national enterprise technological innovation capabilities. Quite a few of the company's industrial products have replaced imported products, providing strong support for Chinese manufacturing.
