The Shanxi Industrial Base for the National Advanced Computing Industry Innovation Center broke ground on Dec 25 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province.
The project site covers 4 hectares in local Tanghuai Industrial Park and marks another major landmark achievement for cooperation between Shanxi government and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
It will undertake Shanxi's mission in the development of National Advanced Computing Industry Innovation Center. It is expected to become an innovation complex -- integrating technology research and development, manufacturing, computing services, training and industrial incubation.
Li Jun, president of Dawning Information Industry Co (also known as Sugon) said at the groundbreaking ceremony that Shanxi has become an emerging highland for the development of the integrated circuits and software industry.
Sugon, a leading constructor of National Advanced Computing Industry Innovation Center and a leading member of the CAS Advanced Computing Technology Innovation and Industrialization Alliance, will attract more CAS-related institutions and enterprises to Shanxi for joint development.
Li said it wants to add impetus to the construction of a leading and advanced international computing industry hub in Shanxi.
Since the start of the year, Shanxi has been prioritizing making the IT application innovation industry a strategic driver to develop the province.
The province has undertaken marketing and investment campaigns and attracted a large number of core leading companies and people to locate there.
It has implemented a large number of major projects and established an industry supply chain covering central processing units, operation systems, basic software, finished computers -- as well as the support parts and application integration sectors.
