The first phase of the Taiyuan Metro Line 2 in Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, recently passed a completion review conducted by rail officials and will start trial operations at the end of 2020.

The new north-south metro line, a major line in the city's rail transit network, extends 23.65 kilometers and has 23 stations.

The latest technologies, including fully automated operations, cloud computing and internet payments, have been adopted throughout the line.

Ticket prices for taking the metro line will start at 2 yuan ($0.31) and cost 6 yuan at most. Passengers can buy tickets through manual ticket windows, automatic ticket vending machines, or use mobile phone apps or metro cards.

Wang Jide, general manager of the metro line's constructor, said that some 274 trains will operate every day when officially put into run, carrying more than 500,000 passengers.

Taiyuan Metro Line 2 will increase connections rapidly between Taiyuan's main urban area and the new urban area, improve the quality and efficiency of Taiyuan's public transportation network, ease urban traffic pressure, optimize the urban spatial layout and stimulate economic growth.
