The Jinyang Lake Integrated Circuit (IC) and Software Industry Summit was held for the first time on Sept 28 in Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province.

The event was jointly hosted by China Software Industry Association, China Semiconductor Industry Association, China Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team and the council of the Jinyang Lake Integrated Circuit and Software Industry Summit.

It aimed to gather scientific research institutions and leading companies in the integrated circuits and software industries, to jointly establish a hub for IC and software development in Shanxi. 

The event attracted more than 600 representatives from leading companies, experts and academics, who shared their achievements and put forward suggestions on the development of the IC and software industries.

Two sub-forums themed on the high-quality development of the two industries were held on the day, with academics, experts and business representatives delivering special reports. 

Fu Xiaoyu, deputy secretary-general of China Software Industry Association, said that the summit demonstrated the determination and confidence of Shanxi authorities to develop the IC and software industries.

He added that the event had created a platform for companies in the sectors in Shanxi to communicate and interact, playing a vital role in the growth of the two industries in the province.

The summit saw 131 projects signed, worth 80 billion yuan ($11.73 billion). They covered the fields of IC and semiconductors, software and information services, innovation in information technology applications, tech innovation, talent training and strategic collaborations. 

An exhibition was held during the summit, showcasing 88 innovative achievements of 30 IC, software and IT application innovation companies, as well as three universities and colleges.

In addition, several government and industrial reports on the developmment of the two industries and tech achievements of Shanxi companies were released at the event. 

These included the China Software Industry Association's White Paper on Software and Information Service SME Development, and safe and intelligent storage control chips developed by Liangzi Xinyun (Shanxi) Microelectronics Technology Co.
