The founding ceremony for Taiyuan Student Workstations in 42 universities across China was recently held in Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province.

A total of 84 Shanxi-born students at the 42 universities -- including Peking University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University -- were appointed as work stationmasters and deputy stationmasters of the Taiyuan Student Workstations in their universities.

In recent years, Taiyuan has expanded its strategic cooperation with leading domestic universities and scientific research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tongji University.

It has also established industry-teaching-research integrated development platforms and business and innovation incubators, to attract more Taiyuan or Shanxi-born students back and work in their hometown.

The city has also implemented a series of measures and polices as well as increased financial support for young people in terms of scientific research funding and settlements, to provide guarantees for returned college and university students in their employment and entrepreneurship.

The construction of the Taiyuan Student Workstation program is a major measure taken by the city to expand its talent-driven urban development.

It aims to establish a link between Taiyuan and Shanxi-born students learning outside the province, to inform them about policies, job requirements, the innovation and entrepreneurship environment in the city and lure more to back to participate in the city's development.

To date, the Taiyuan Student Workstations established at the 42 first-class universities across China have already involved more than 3,300 young students from Shanxi province.
