A ceremony marking the start of production at Shanxi Great Wall Computer System Co's smart cloud factory took place in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province on July 10. 

With an investment of 750 million yuan ($107.13 million) for its first phase, the factory has adopted industrial internet technology and automatic, digital and intelligent management and manufacturing.

Officials said its intelligent production line -- which is 90 percent automated -- is expected to manufacture 1 million computers annually.

It took less than four months to complete the construction of the smart cloud factory, with the support from Shanxi provincial government departments and Taiyuan city.

Lou Yangsheng, Party chief of Shanxi province, addressed the ceremony that the start of operations of the factory was a major landmark for Shanxi in terms of building industrial clusters of information applications innovation and it would accelerate the province's transformation and development.

The ceremony also saw partnership agreements signed between Shanxi, Taiyuan and China Electronic Corporation.

Officials said the three will focus on new infrastructure construction, jointly build cooperation platforms and industrial parks and boost the network information industry, big data industry and intelligent manufacturing.

Rui Xiaowu, chairman of China Electronic Corporation, said the company would build benchmark projects to help the province establish strategic emerging industrial clusters and serve its socioeconomic development. 

Shanxi has been promoting the development of the information applications innovation industry, a promising industry with independent property rights and core competitiveness. 

A number of leading national enterprises including China Electronic Corporation have operated businesses in the province, where local information technology companies have flourished.
