Shele Park in northern part of Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, is expected to open to the public by the end of this year, according to local officials.

They said that with the ground paving and planting underway, the park has completed its infrastructure construction and 75 percent of the greening. 

According to the design, the park has a total of five landscape areas including sections for Chinese rose bushes, pine forests, cherry blossom gardens and a central square, providing visitors with different horticultural experiences.

A 1-kilometer concrete walkway has been built at the outer part of park to expand sports space and walkway connecting various major scenic sites and planting areas to close the distance between visitors and nature, according to the person in charge of the park construction. 

In addition, the park will construct building complexes such as service centers, as well as safety and health education centers, to give full play its cultural and science education functions.

Officials said there are more than 300 underground parking spaces for visitors.
