To resuscitate its urban environment and promote the construction of a beautiful Taiyuan and the creation of a national civilized city, the capital of China's North Shanxi province decided to launch a zero-waste operation across the metropolis from March 25 to April 10, according to local officials.
The targets for the big clean-up are domestic, construction and industrial waste accumulated on both sides of urban and rural roads – as well as waste along railways, in river channels, construction sites, under bridges, garbage collection sites, fairs, residential communities and factories.
The ruins of buildings along railways, urban expressways and near residential areas, which affect the city's image, will also be demolished and beautified.
