The resumption of operations and production by business and industry in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, is on track and has been accelerated, according to a statement from the Taiyuan commerce bureau.

As of March 2, 24 out of 29 local large-scale shopping malls -- which covers over 5,000 square meters -- had reopened with 10,236 people back at work.

All nine agricultural wholesale markets were in service again and 95.84 percent of 2,068 branches of 13 supermarkets and chain convenience stores in the city had reopened to the public, officials said.

As for local companies, 20 commerce, trade and logistics enterprises had resumed operation.

Among 141 foreign trading companies whose imports and exports account for 98 percent of the city's total, 73 had opened.

Officials said that 91 percent of 165 foreign-funded enterprises had been put into operation again.

In five development areas in Taiyuan, all 783 companies above a designated size -- those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.86 million) or more -- in construction, wholesaling, retailing, accommodation, catering and the service sectors, had resumed operations.

In addition, 231 gas stations in the city were operating normally, except for nine private gas stations closed due to road construction and building demolition work.
