The world of sports descended on Tiayuan city on Jan 10 when the 2020 ISEE Expo and the first Sports Events Trading Exhibition opened in the capital of northern Shanxi province, according to the organizers.
They said the ISEE Expo is the first comprehensive large-scale exhibition mainly focusing on sports events in China. It aims to make more quality sports events known to more people and encourage more to participate in sports events, according to Zhao Xiaochun, director of the Shanxi sport bureau.
The three-day expo had five sections: an opening ceremony, exhibition, themed forum and sub forums, a sports events display and signing ceremonies.
The exhibition area covered an area of 12,000 square meters, with 48 sports event organizers and clubs taking part. The themed forum invited domestic and foreign sports experts to discuss sports events, and the sub-forums focused on football, winter sports, aviation, the game of go, marathons, cycling and sports field developments.
During the three-day expo, 21 wide-ranging events -- including an e-sports demonstration, fashion catwalk show, sports dance and Taekwondo demonstrations, were staged. Visitors experienced more than 20 sports events including ice and snow panoramic virtual reality, clay pigeon shooting and table hockey, at the 400-sq-m experience area.
The organizers said 103 agreements were signed for upcoming sports events at the signing ceremony during the expo. These sports events cover cycling, martial arts, tennis, canoeing and wrestling and they will be held in 11 cities in Shanxi province. Taiyuan city will host 17 of them, the organizers added.
