According to the Taiyuan customs, in the first ten months of 2018, the total import and export value of Shanxi province was 115.76 billion yuan ($17.30 billion), increasing by 23.4 percent compared to the same period in 2018, ranking 22nd across the country, and the growth rate ranked 8th.
In the first ten months, the total export value of Shanxi increased by 19.3 percent, exceeding the total export value of the nation by 11.4 percent; the total import value of Shanxi rose by 29.6 percent, exceeding the total import value of the nation by 14.1 percent. The trade surplus was 18.93 billion yuan, decreasing by 0.9 percent.
The processing trade was in the leading position, increasing by 22.2 percent, accounting for 68.7 percent of the total foreign trade value; the general trade increased by 23.9 percent, occupying 30.2 percent.
The foreign-funded enterprises have increased by 25.3 percent in export and import trade, accounting for 59.5 percent of the total foreign trade value. The state-owned enterprises and private enterprise both maintained growth.
Shanxi exported 19.09 million cell phones, valued at 38.41 billion yuan. Shanxi also exported 10.93 tons steel, valuing 11.65 billion yuan. The value of exported cell phones and steel took up 74.3 percent of the total export value. The import of mechanical and electrical products, hi-tech products, mineral products and raw materials enjoyed remarkable growth.
