Yangquan gears up for twin festivals with cultural bonanza

Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province has prepared a special gift package of cultural and tourism activities to ramp up visitor numbers during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Sept 29 to Oct 6.

The city's scenic spots, cultural towns, and tourism villages will host hundreds of such activities, including art performances, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, and intangible cultural heritage shows. 

At Niangzi Pass scenic area, from Sept 30 to Oct 5, visitors will get to experience how handcrafted dried flower fans and thematic woven paintings are made. 

Cangshan Mountain scenic area will present performances based on the book Classic of Mountains and Rivers from Sept 29 to Oct 6, including role-playing and the tasting of local specialties.

At Dachang hot spring scenic area, activities such as light shows and moon-gazing will be available during the eight-day holiday. Traditional Chinese performances and bonfire parties punctuated with electronic music will be staged from 15:00 to 18:00 and from 19:00 to 21:00 daily at the Taolinggou scenic area during the holiday. 

Yangquan Memory·1947 Cultural Park will host theatrical performances from Sept 29 to Oct 6. 

In addition, several scenic areas will offer discounted tickets during the holiday.
