The hospital has always been responsible for the referral of emergency and severe cases at the grass-roots level and the diagnosis and treatment of more than 60 percent of the difficult and incurable diseases in the city. Medical services have been expanded to cover Xiyang, Zuoquan and Heshun counties. The inpatient building is equipped with central air conditioning, central oxygen supply, central suction, and 12 operating rooms with laminar flow purification to meet the needs of different levels of surgery. In order to further optimize the work flow, since 2017 the hospital has completed the upgrading and renovation of the Health Examination Department, the Emergency Department, the Dialysis Base and the Stomatology Department, and has added an Emergency Care Unit and a Chest Pain Center. In September 2018, the main building for teaching and scientific research was completed.  

The hospital has always adhered to its public welfare orientation, explored new mechanisms and actively participated in disaster relief, free medical treatment, poverty alleviation, and peer support, establishing itself as the first medical consortium in Yangquan city. It has successively won the honorary titles of "National People's Trust Model Hospital", "National Economical Public Organization Model Unit", "Shanxi Province Five-star Grass-roots Trade Union Unit", "Shanxi Province New Rural Cooperative Medical Excellence Designated Medical Institution", "Shanxi Province Civilized and Harmonious Unit", "Shanxi Province Nurse Post Management Pilot Hospital" and "Shanxi Medical University Excellent Teaching Base", among others.
