Over the past year, Jin Yuting, a deputy to the Shanxi Provincial People's Congress and a member of the tour guide department at Shanxi Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon Tourism Development Co, has been dedicated to expanding the market for specialty agricultural products from the Taihang Mountain region. Her efforts are aimed at creating new paths to prosperity for local communities.

To better understand the challenges and needs of locals, Jin spent several months visiting rural fields, cooperatives, and agricultural enterprises in the city of Changzhi. Her efforts resulted in the collection of 37 valuable suggestions regarding the sale of local specialties and the extension of industrial chains.

Jin worked to connect large supermarkets in Beijing with agricultural enterprises in Changzhi, establishing direct supply channels. This collaboration has allowed local specialties such as millet, Dangshen (Codonopsis pilosula), and tomato paste to reach the Beijing market.

Jin has also facilitated partnerships between scenic area shops, homestays, and cooperatives to offer unique products like millet porridge and Dangshen health gifts, turning cultural and tourism venues into outlets for local specialties. Online, she leverages the Beijing-Changzhi cooperation platform for live-streaming sales, using digital engagement to boost the real economy and increase incomes for farmers.

Jin plans to advocate at this year's provincial two sessions for the establishment of an official rapid response mechanism to handle cultural tourism consumer complaints. This initiative aims to streamline the protection of consumer rights and crack down on false and malicious marketing, fostering a healthy online ecosystem for the cultural tourism and agricultural specialty sectors.
