Shanxi millet wins ITI Superior Taste Award
Updated: 2026-01-08
The International Taste Institute (ITI), based in Brussels, Belgium, announced the results of the 2026 Superior Taste Award on Jan 6, with Shanxi province's Tanshanhuang Organic Millet scoring over 90 points and receiving the highest honor – a three-star medal.
This marks the third consecutive year Tanshanhuang products have earned the award, often dubbed the "Oscars" of the global food industry. The accolade recognizes its flavor profile as among the world's top-tier foods.
Tanshanhuang Organic Millet boasts distinct regional characteristics: high potassium content, stable protein and amino acid composition, and exceptionally high levels of folic acid and carotene. Its pure trace element profile offers reliable nutritional value, making it an ideal choice for high-end consumers.
The quality of Tanshanhuang millet begins with its cultivation management. On Dec 22, 2025, Tanshanhuang Farm officially received Demeter biodynamic agriculture certification. As the highest standard in organic agriculture, Demeter certification prohibits the use of synthetic chemicals and emphasizes soil vitality and ecosystem integrity, earning it the title of the "crown of organic agriculture."
The Tanshanhuang production area is located in Tanshan, Qinxian county, at an average altitude of over 1,100 meters. Its mineral-rich red sandy loam soil has made it the original production area of China's renowned Qinzhou tribute millet.
