The 10th Cross-Strait Cultural Exchange Event was held in Gaoping, North China's Shanxi province, on May 5, celebrating the shared heritage of the legendary Emperor Yan, also known as Shennong. The event saw participation from numerous leaders from both Shanxi and Taiwan.
In a solemn ceremony held in front of the Emperor Yan's Mausoleum, local residents, Taiwan people, and overseas Chinese performed traditional rituals to honor their ancestor. Meanwhile, temples dedicated to Shennong in Taiwan conducted their own ceremonies, with an online platform enabling people to participate in the "Cloud Worship" from afar.
The event, organized by the Association for Yan Huang Culture of China and the Shanxi Yanhuang Culture Research Association, included a variety of activities such as ancestral worship ceremonies, cultural exchanges, interactions among youth, women's exchanges, and economic discussions. These activities aim to strengthen the bond between residents on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, enhancing their sense of belonging, identity, and pride in the Chinese nation and reinforcing the concept of a unified Chinese community.
Recognized as the ancestral homeland of Emperor Yan, Gaoping is committed to exploring, preserving, and promoting the culture of Emperor Yan. This cross-Strait cultural exchange event has become a crucial platform for fostering spiritual connections, cultural identity, and collaborative exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
