Shanxi province was selected for the second batch of regions included in the National Highway and Waterway Transport Infrastructure Digital Transformation and Upgrade List on April 23. During the project implementation period, Shanxi could receive up to 1 billion yuan ($137.05 million) in central government funding.

The project funds will primarily support the construction of the integrated comprehensive transport information platform at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, the intelligent expansion of highway infrastructure, the enhancement of infrastructure safety and efficiency, and the integration of cross-sector industries.

These efforts aim to drive the digital transformation, intelligent upgrading, and innovative integration of Shanxi's transport sector and achieve the province-wide transport objectives of "One Network, Two Focuses, Three Enhancements, and Four Systems".

"One Network" refers to creating an integrated digital and intelligent network that ensures smooth travel across Shanxi. "Two Focuses" emphasizes heavy-load transportation and tourism traffic. "Three Enhancements" aims to increase the efficiency of demonstration channels by over 20 percent, improve emergency response efficiency by over 30 percent, and achieve a public travel service satisfaction rate of over 95 percent. "Four Systems" will establish a heavy-load freight safety system, a tourism traffic service system, an infrastructure early warning system, and a coordinated road-police interaction system.
