Several projects from Shanxi province's healthcare sector have been selected in the "National Outstanding Projects and Accepted Projects for 5G+ Healthcare Application Pilots" list announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The "Enhancing County-Level Medical Group Services with 5G Technology" project, submitted by the Shanxi Digital Health Guidance Center, was recognized as a national outstanding project. "The Application of 5G-Based Multidisciplinary Remote Mobile Diagnosis and Treatment Platform in Medical Alliances under Hierarchical Diagnosis and Treatment" by Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital and the "5G Medical Cloud VR Platform" by the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University are also among the accepted projects.

The project implemented by Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital benefits an increasing number of county-level patients. "This platform enables a range of remote medical services, including multidisciplinary consultations, surgical guidance, teaching, imaging diagnostics, and video conferencing," said Ren Xiaoqiang, head of the hospital's Information Management Department.

The First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University uses the 5G Medical Cloud VR Platform to conduct regular remote education and training sessions, improving the skills of grassroots doctors and providing higher quality medical services to patients. "This platform connects pilot county medical groups with designated tertiary hospitals, facilitating remote consultations, remote surgeries, remote education, and emergency collaborative services," explained Wang Wei, director of the hospital's Information Maintenance Center.

Shanxi will build a multi-level, comprehensive digital healthcare service system to ensure that high-quality medical resources are precisely allocated, allowing every county resident to enjoy the health benefits of the digital era equally.
