Shanxi allocates 2.18b yuan to support technological innovation

North China's Shanxi province has allocated 2.18 billion yuan ($300.64 million) to support technological innovation, promoting the development of new quality productive forces and accelerating the transformation of the resource-based economy.
The funds will be distributed as 898 million yuan for innovation ecosystem services, 875 million yuan for scientific research and development, 210 million yuan for basic research, and 200 million yuan for major scientific and technological projects. The focus will be on advancing the construction of strategic scientific and technological institutes such as the Huairou Shanxi Research Institute, provincial laboratories, and technology innovation centers.
Financial support will also increase investment in basic research, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, support innovation activities, provide science and technology awards and subsidies, and drive the development of high-tech enterprises.
Funded technological projects include 20 major provincial science and technology projects and 100 key provincial R&D projects in energy conservation and environmental protection, information technology innovation, intelligence, big health and biomedicine, new materials, and modern agriculture. A further 2,672 provincial basic research projects in free exploration and industrial development will also be funded.
