Universities and colleges across North China's Shanxi province have been working toward the "First-class Universities and Disciplines" initiative, achieving significant progress in scientific innovation, talent cultivation, and local service and enhancing the overall quality of education.

Shanxi University has established a first-class discipline matrix, including computer science and technology, environmental science and engineering, and archaeology, while supporting the development of first-class philosophy and physics disciplines. These efforts have yielded impressive results.

Wang Yongzhen, director of the Development and Reform Department at Taiyuan University of Technology, said, "In the new round of 'First-class Universities and Disciplines', our university is focusing on clean, low-carbon, and efficient development and utilization of coal-based resources. The university's funding has significantly boosted the discipline cluster in recent years. Additionally, the university is promoting the integration of 'intelligent+ disciplines' and 'discipline+ industries'".

Shanxi Medical University has formulated a "2+1+1" disciplinary development strategy, including transforming special medicine and forensic medicine into first-class disciplines, establishing a first-class high-level public health school at home and abroad, and building a top-tier digital medicine innovation research and application base. Efforts have also been made to promote comprehensive development in nursing, pharmacy, and clinical, basic, and dental medicine.

Shanxi will make significant efforts to attract top talent teams, build key disciplines and specialties, and establish platforms to drive higher education quality across the province.
