As the only performing arts project among 20 distinguished cases, See You again, Pingyao skillfully combines immersive storytelling with advanced digital technology. It transforms the spirits of Shanxi merchants into a concrete theatrical language, with dynamic scene changes allowing audiences to experience the historical context.
The international center, which focuses on creativity and sustainable development, highlighted innovative practices in cultural preservation during the digital age. The judges noted that See You again, Pingyao offers a Chinese solution for empowering traditional culture with digital technology.

Since its debut in 2013, the theatre has staged over 8,400 performances, attracting more than 6 million viewers and generating over 1 billion yuan ($138.24 million) in ticket sales. It has become the most influential single tourism performance project in Shanxi.
"This is a significant testament to Shanxi's cultural soft power," said the theatre's project leader. The team plans to use this recognition to build a "digital creativity + cultural IP" transformation chain, ensuring that the millennia-old spirit of Shanxi merchants finds vibrant contemporary expression in the digital age.
