"I have received the reply certificate from the Proposal Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)," said Miao Jie, a CPPCC National Committee member and vice president of Shanxi Arts Vocational College. "Three proposals, including supporting Shanxi to be the first in the country to establish a vocational university integrating culture and tourism, have been approved."

As a national-level inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, Miao has always focused on protecting, developing, and cultivating talent in traditional Chinese operas. During last year's Two Sessions, Miao submitted three proposals on opera education and the art of Chinese opera. All proposals have been approved.

Over the past year, Miao has traveled extensively to Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Henan, Beijing, Zhejiang, and abroad to promote the culture of Chinese opera.

Shanxi, known as the "cradle of Chinese opera", actively performs 38 opera genres. Accounting for one-ninth of all opera genres nationwide, Shanxi holds the top spot, earning its reputation as a leading province for traditional Chinese opera.

After researching the survival status of over a dozen rare opera genres, Miao believes that strengthening the cultivation of creative talent is necessary to introduce more popular and marketable high-quality productions.

With the 2025 Two Sessions approaching, Miao is refining her proposals. This year, she will focus on rural vitalization and cultural heritage, proposing relevant proposals in art and education. "I will fulfill my duties as a CPPCC National Committee member, ensuring that the proposals are practical and effective, and contributing to protecting and inheriting Chinese opera culture," said Miao.
