North China's Shanxi province aims to accelerate the construction of a new energy system in 2025, balancing secure and stable supply with green and low-carbon transformation.

Efforts will focus on deepening reforms in electricity spot trading. The province will introduce the nation's first provincial electricity market standards and maintain its lead nationwide.

Based on its abundant wind and solar resources, Shanxi will advance the construction of large-scale national wind and solar bases, proactively develop new energy storage, nurture and expand the new energy industry chain, and expedite the establishment of new energy bases.

Meanwhile, Shanxi will accelerate the construction of power quality upgrading projects, including propelling a number of coal-fired power projects. The province will also facilitate the commencement and operation of several wind, solar, and pumped storage projects.

Efforts will also be made to establish Shanxi as a beacon for energy science and technology innovation to secure the implementation of national-level application-based projects. Technological breakthroughs in sectors such as coal, new energy, and energy saving and consumption reduction will be accelerated.

At the same time, streamlining processes will establish an efficient energy business environment and enhance the quality and efficiency of energy-related governmental services.
