Shanxi's museums to hold various exhibitions during Spring Festival
As Spring Festival approaches, various museums in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, are organizing over 200 exhibition activities. Among them are 83 on-site events and 52 physical exhibitions, as well as 33 online activities and 103 online exhibitions.
From Jan 29 to Feb 12, the Jinci Temple Museum will host eight on-site activities, including woodblock Chinese New Year painting experiences, paper-cutting creations, printing experiences, creating ancient architecture with building blocks, and lantern making. Additionally, an intangible cultural heritage (ICH) experience area will be set up within the museum, featuring ICH performances.
The Taiyuan Beiqi Mural Museum will launch the "Curator Guides You Through the Museum" activity, along with experiences such as mural restoration, porcelain restoration, eaves tile rubbing, glass painting, and more.
The Taiyuan Museum will offer activities such as making huamo (flower-shaped steamed buns), paper-cutting for window decorations, and painting Chinese New Year paintings. Additionally, there will be volunteer guides and a series of Chinese New Year garden tours.
Various museums are also launching a variety of online activities on their official platforms. The Jinci Temple Museum will introduce online activities such as online Chinese New Year greetings, annual custom discussions, and live broadcasts by star guides on platforms like Douyin. The Shuangta Museum, meanwhile, will present the "Golden Snake Blessings" live broadcast series, and visitors can also experience immersive VR exhibitions by logging into the museum's public WeChat account.
Liu Yuwei, director of the Taiyuan bureau of cultural relics, stated that through over 200 cultural activities, they aim to showcase the rich Chinese New Year custom activities of various cultural venues, allowing people to have fun while also learning.
