The "Joyful Chinese New Year, Authentic Shanxi Flavor" cultural tourism carnival, organized by the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province, kicked off in the Ancient City of Xinzhou on Jan 18, attracting global tourists to North China's Shanxi province for a cultural rendezvous that transcends time and space.

On Dec 4, 2024, China's traditional Spring Festival was officially inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, marking this cultural treasure's global ascendance and demonstrating its status as a cultural treasure of all humanity.

During the event, there were many foreign tourists dressed in hanfu, the traditional Chinese costume, enjoying a novel experience in the Ancient City of Xinzhou and offering an international perspective on the unique charm of Shanxi's traditional customs.

The event featured lively folk performances such as lion dances and yangko dances, keeping tourists captivated. Within the ancient city, visitors also experienced cultural heritage items like woodblock printing and dough sculpture, immersing themselves in the beauty of millennia-old intangible cultural heritage.

During the 2025 Spring Festival, Shanxi will launch Spring Festival cultural tourism products such as the "Follow Wukong to Explore Shanxi and Celebrate the Chinese New Year in Xinzhou" special tour route. Cities and scenic spots across the province will use their own cultural resources to introduce a variety of unique experiences and folk performances, hoping to inspire more tourists to celebrate an authentic Chinese New Year in Shanxi.
