In 2024, North China's Shanxi province focused on enhancing the livelihood and well-being of its residents by assisting those in need and consistently addressing key issues.

The province implemented a policy prioritizing employment, utilizing job information platforms and the gig economy market to facilitate stable employment for college and university graduates, migrant workers, and veterans.

The province established 122 labor service brands, creating job opportunities for nearly 800,000 individuals and developing three labor service brand alliances. A comprehensive employment service system was established, with over 7,753 recruitment events organized under the "10+N" public employment service activities.

Targeted efforts were made to expand social insurance coverage, achieving full coverage for pension, unemployment, and work-related injury insurance. Policies supporting enterprises in maintaining employment stability were fully implemented, with 1.03 billion yuan ($140 million) in funds benefiting 63,600 companies.

The province completed 50 urban community elderly care projects, renovated 100 regional care service centers, and upgraded 3,000 rural centers. Subsidies for meal assistance were provided to individuals from low-income families aged 80 and above, leading to a steady improvement in the quality of community-based care services.
