Since 2024, high-quality fruits such as apples and pears from North China's Shanxi province have further expanded and optimized their presence in overseas markets. Niche products like walnuts, asparagus, and small grains have also seen increased exports, broadening the international path for this inland province.

Over 30 metric tons of sugary Red Fuji apples recently left Linfen, Shanxi, and arrived in Toronto, Canada, via Qingdao Port, just in time for the local Christmas and New Year markets.

"Our client specifically requested our sugary Red Fuji apples, which are harvested later than regular Fuji apples, offering higher sweetness and better taste. The client even customized Christmas and 2025 New Year labels for the fruit," said Zhang Yingjie, head of Shanxi Xizhou Yeliyuan Specialty Products Development Co.

Yuncheng apples have also entered a new market. In early November 2024, apples worth 25,000 euros were exported to the Netherlands, marking the first time they had been shipped to the country.

Shanxi's renowned vinegar and fenjiu liquor achieved export revenues surpassing $10 million in 2024, with fenjiu liquor reaching over 70 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, and Brazil. Vinegar was exported to more than 20 countries and regions, such as the US, Japan, and South Korea.

Experts from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Taiyuan Customs, and other relevant institutions conducted training sessions covering technical trade measures for agricultural exports, inspection and quarantine procedures, and international trade risk prevention to better facilitate the outbound journey of more top-notch agricultural products from Shanxi.
