The "Shanxi Brands Tour on the Silk Road" event arrived on Oct 13 in Barcelona, Spain, hosting the Shanxi-Spain Trade and Investment Promotion Conference.
The event aimed to promote cooperation, facilitate discussions, and deepen exchanges between Shanxi and Spain across various sectors.
The Shanxi delegation visited the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises to discuss enhancing cooperation and expanding market opportunities.
Spain is China's fifth-largest trading partner within the EU, while China is Spain's top trading partner outside the EU. In 2023, bilateral trade reached $48.58 billion, with China exporting textiles, machinery, chemicals, and light industrial products and importing pork, machinery, transportation equipment, plastics, minerals, and pharmaceuticals.
At the promotion conference, officials from Yuncheng city presented the advantages of their industries, and company representatives introduced their respective projects and products.
The conference showcased Shanxi's rapid development and abundant opportunities, and introduced Barcelona's immense potential in technology, culture, renewable energy, agriculture, and urban architecture.
"Through this exchange, we aim to facilitate the entry of enterprises and products into each other's markets, benefitting the local people and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation," said Lin Feng, chairman of the Presidium of the Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations in Spain.
Officials from the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade hoped the conference would expand practical cooperation between the two sides in green economy, new energy, energy conservation, environmental protection, and digital economy.
