Shanxi athlete Li Yajie wins national diving championship

The 2024 National Diving Championships continued at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai on Sept 26. In the women's one-meter springboard final, Shanxi province's Li Yajie clinched the championship with a total score of 313.30 points.
Competing alongside 40 athletes, Li secured the title with 313.30 points after five dives, being the only competitor to surpass the 300-point mark. Lin Shan from the Guangdong Haiyin team won the silver medal with 289.60 points, while Chen Jia from the Sichuan Zhouke team took the bronze with 282.45 points.
Li, a 22-year-old girl from Datong, has shown significant progress since joining the Chinese diving team in 2021. She previously won the women's one-meter springboard final at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, becoming Shanxi's first female world champion diver.
She also achieved silver at the 2023 Fukuoka World Swimming Championships and gold at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou in the women's one-meter springboard event.
The championship lasted seven days, and over 240 athletes were from 19 diving teams representing provinces, autonomous regions, and cities nationwide. It was a significant event for the country's diving talents.
