Shanxi advances sustainable coal use and green development
Updated: 2024-08-19
North China's Shanxi province has strived to improve its coal development layout in recent years. It has actively promoted the construction of intelligent mines, explored green mining technologies, and strived to achieve balanced development between the coal industry and the ecological environment. Significant achievements have been made in all aspects.
Shanxi has developed an internet platform for the coal industry and incorporated 5G technology into its mines. As of the first half of this year, the region had established 128 intelligent mines, 1,491 intelligent mining units, and 3,200 unmanned chambers. All essential work areas had implemented the "no monitoring, no operation" principle, positioning Shanxi as one of the leading provinces in the country.
Shanxi has actively promoted upgrading the coal preparation industry by eliminating outdated and excessive coal preparation as well as increasing the advanced production capacity, equipment levels, and scale of coal preparation enterprises and plants.
Furthermore, Shanxi has adopted various measures to promote large-scale ecological restoration in mining areas. Taiyuan has built 18 suburban forest parks, completed afforestation and greening on more than 13,333 hectares of land, and restored 666 hectares of damaged areas in the western mountains, with forest coverage rising to around 80 percent.
These actions and results promote the sustainable development of Shanxi's coal industry, helping Shanxi achieve a historic transition from a coal-based province to a leader of the national energy revolution.
