The China (Shanxi) – ASEAN Trade and Investment Promotion Conference was successfully held in Changzhi, a city in North China's Shanxi province, on Aug 12 as an important event of ASEAN-China Week 2024.
Political and business representatives from ASEAN countries engaged in discussions and exchanges, exploring potential avenues for trade cooperation under the theme "new opportunities, new momentum, new collaboration, and new development". Wu Wei, executive vice governor of Shanxi province, delivered a welcome speech at the conference.
Recent years have witnessed a significant increase in Shanxi's trade cooperation with ASEAN countries. ASEAN currently stands as the second largest trade partner of Shanxi, with collaboration extending beyond traditional goods trade to culture, tourism and other sectors.
Participants expressed the conference's significant role in establishing a platform for interactions and exchanges between ASEAN countries and Shanxi. It is expected to contribute to deeper cooperation across various fields, including cultural exchanges, trade, tourism, and regional economic integration.
The conference will also strengthen ties between ASEAN and Shanxi, as well as between ASEAN and Changzhi, with joint efforts dedicated to exploring opportunities in green and low-carbon energy transformation, digital economy, and culture and tourism, promoting mutual prosperity and common development.
Agreements for six major projects were signed during the conference, covering areas like automobile assembly, LED displays, civil explosives, and refined chemical products, with a total trade value of 152.09 million yuan ($21.18 million). Participants and companies also engaged in on-site presentations and discussions on further collaboration.
