Shanxi launches volunteer campaign for protection of ancient Chinese books

The launch ceremony of the "2024 Chinese Ancient Book Protection Cultural Volunteer Service Action – Shanxi Station" was recently held at Quwo Library in Linfen, North China's Shanxi province.

The "Chinese Ancient Book Protection Cultural Volunteer Service Action" is an important initiative introduced by the Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Association of China to support the protection of ancient books, serving as a prominent service brand in collaboration with relevant industries.

Organized by the Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Association of China and hosted by the Shanxi Library, with cooperation from Linfen Library, Quwo Library, Gaoping Library, and Fanshi Library, the event sees university students engaging in cultural volunteer services during the summer holiday, assisting public libraries in collecting and reviewing data on ancient books.

The Shanxi Library has carried out the "2024 Chinese Ancient Book Protection Cultural Volunteer Service Action – Shanxi Station" for the past eight years, recruiting 124 students from universities nationwide. Their efforts have reached 23 cities and counties across the province, aiding 30 ancient book collection units and surveying data from over 180,000 ancient books.
