Three tourism routes in Shanxi make national list
To enrich the supply of high-quality cultural and tourism products in summer, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has selected and introduced 82 national boutique rural tourism routes, with three routes from North China's Shanxi province.
The three selected routes in Shanxi are the "Yuanping Ancient Rural Buildings" route, the "Shanxi Ancient Fortresses" route, and the "Yuncheng Ancient Architectural Art Tour" route.
Along the "Yuanping Ancient Rural Buildings" route, visitors can explore the Tianya Mountain Scenic Area and Huiji Temple, and admire the thousand-year-old ancient catalpa tree in Dalin township. Along the way, they can savor local delicacies such as fish-shaped noodles and Shanxi-style braised dishes and purchase specialties like almonds, free-range eggs and honey.
On the "Shanxi Ancient Fortresses" route, tourists can marvel at the Great Wall and fortress complex of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), camp at the Yinma Hepan Wetland, enjoy barbecues and water activities, and relax at boutique inns with mountain views.
The "Yuncheng Ancient Architectural Art Tour" route connects Ruicheng, Wanrong and Xinjiang counties in Yuncheng. Travelers can appreciate the exquisite murals of Yongle Palace, experience the architecture of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) at the Guangrenwang Temple, taste local delicacies such as lamb soup with steamed bun, Ruicheng baked pancakes and Ruicheng jellied bean curd, and purchase various cultural and creative products along the way.
