Shanxi sees stable economic growth in H1

North China's Shanxi province witnessed stable economic growth in the first half of 2024, according to statistics released by the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics on July 26, with the province's GDP reaching 1.12 trillion yuan ($154.01 billion), an increase of 1.9 percent year-on-year.
The added value of primary industry reached 43.29 billion yuan, a 4.8 percent increase year-on-year, the added value of secondary industry was 536.48 billion yuan, a 1.5 percent increase year-on-year, and the added value of tertiary industry stood at 538.92 billion yuan, a 2 percent increase year-on-year.
The agricultural sector, including forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries, saw an added value of 47.43 billion yuan, a 4.8 percent increase year-on-year. The province's summer grain output reached 24.82 million metric tons, a 0.5 percent increase, while animal husbandry production maintained positive growth momentum.
The service industry continued its recovery, with the internet sector exhibiting a strong growth trajectory. Market sales remained stable, and the tourism market continued to heat up, with the number of visits to key scenic spots monitored by the province reaching 45.77 million, a 10.8 percent year-on-year increase.
The average disposable income of Shanxi residents reached 14,986 yuan, an increase of 5.2 percent year-on-year. Urban residents had an average disposable income of 20,389 yuan, a 4.4 percent increase, while rural residents' average disposable income reached 8,165 yuan, a 6.5 percent increase. The province also saw the creation of 283,000 new jobs in urban areas, achieving 62.8 percent of the annual target.
