Seven companies from North China's Shanxi province have been listed on the 2024 Fortune China 500 ranking, released on July 25.

The included companies are Jineng Holding Group Co (59th), Shanxi Coking Coal Group Co (129th), Lu'an Chemical Group Co (159th), Daqin Railway Co (238th), Shanxi Xinghuacun Fenjiu Group Co (439th), Wintime Energy Group Co (458th), and Shanxi Huayang Group New Energy Co (473rd).

The Fortune China 500 ranking encompasses both listed and unlisted companies, primarily based on their operating revenue and profits in 2023. State Grid, Sinopec and CNPC occupy the top three positions.

China's 500 top companies on the list accrued a combined revenue of $14.6 trillion in 2023, a decrease of around 3 percent compared to the previous year. Their total net profit amounted to $706.4 billion, marking a decline of approximately 1.5 percent. The annual revenue threshold for inclusion in this year's list stood at approximately $3.74 billion, a 9 percent increase from the previous year.

China's GDP totaled $17.89 trillion in 2023, with the combined revenue of the 500 listed companies on this year's ranking accounting for more than 81 percent of that number.
