North China's Shanxi province recently released the "Shanxi Province's Work Management Measures for Data" to propel the construction of "Digital Shanxi", ultimately laying the foundation for a data-driven digital economy.

As part of the "Digital Shanxi" campaign, the province plans to build a "Digital Shanxi" intelligent brain as well as integrated application support platforms and systems, which will aid in the integrated development of a digital government, digital economy and digital society.

Focusing on core digital economy industries, Shanxi will prioritize the development of electronic information manufacturing, software and information technology services, information and communication technology, and internet service.

Additionally, the province will actively support the advancement of new-generation information technology sectors like big data, general computing equipment, artificial intelligence and intelligent equipment, network security, and electromagnetic protection, while also fostering industries such as blockchain, quantum technology and virtual reality.

Shanxi will also work to promote the informatization of public services and social governance, while promoting the development of smart cities and facilitating innovation in public services and social operation methods, with the end goal being to enhance social governance capacity and the quality of life for residents.

At the same time, the province will seek to boost the digitalization level of villages, establishing an agricultural and rural digital resource system and improving rural comprehensive information service platforms to contribute to rural vitalization efforts.
