Shanxi emerges as popular summer retreat amid scorching heat

With July bringing soaring temperatures across northern China, North China's Shanxi province has become a popular summer destination for those seeking a cool and rejuvenating escape.
Wangmangling Scenic Area, nestled amidst lush mountains, has seen a significant rise in the number of visitors as temperatures in neighboring provinces like Hebei and Henan climb to 40 C. The mountain area boasts a cool average temperature of 25 C and abundant negative oxygen ions, making it ideal for escaping the sweltering heat.

Datong city, known as the "Cool Summer Capital", has launched convenient traffic routes connecting various tourist attractions, making it easier for visitors to explore its scenic spots. The city offers four unique summer tourism routes, encompassing 42 scenic spots in 10 counties.
With the influx of tourists, rural hotels and homestays are also experiencing a boom, with the homestays in Kangjiaping village, Xiangning county, surrounded by pristine nature, welcoming a large number of summer visitors seeking a cool getaway.
Camping enthusiasts are also drawn to Shanxi's picturesque landscapes. The Great Wall Town Campsite in Zuoyun county, featuring stunning agricultural vistas, offers a comprehensive camping experience with food, accommodation, shopping and various recreational activities. During peak season, the campsite attracts over 3,000 visitors daily.
In addition, various cities like Jincheng and Datong are hosting exciting summer events, including electronic music festivals, summer vacations in mountains and villages, and educational excursions for families. These activities provide visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the province's culture and natural beauty while escaping the heat.
