Technology accelerates development of Shanxi's express delivery industry
North China's Shanxi province has significantly enhanced its e-commerce and express delivery service system through automated and intelligent technologies, achieving same-day delivery within city limits and next-day delivery within county limits for express packages.
The Taiyuan Mail Processing Center, a crucial logistics hub in the province, has provided strong support for the high-quality development of Shanxi Post's delivery business and played a significant role in reducing costs and boosting efficiency. The center now relies primarily on automated and intelligent sorting equipment to sort packages.
The scanning system in the center can quickly scan package information from all angles and accurately deliver packages to different exits. Staff members then handle the next stage of delivery for packages within their respective jurisdictions. This efficient processing ensures that people can receive their packages promptly.
Meanwhile, the center uses big data to achieve precise scheduling of postal operations. The new production control model, which is visualized, informatized, and intelligent throughout the process, shifts from analyzing and fixing problems after they occur to predicting and warning about issues before they happen, intervening and correcting them during the process, and reviewing and optimizing after the event, thereby improving the efficiency, quality, and timeliness of the control model.
Wu Liping, the center's head, stated that the application of the new equipment has facilitated rapid sorting of express packages, increasing daily processing capacity by 53 percent, improving work efficiency, and lowering production costs.
Moving forward, Shanxi's express delivery industry will further promote the application of intelligent technologies to achieve intelligent management with real-time tracking and quality monitoring throughout the whole express process.
