Shanxi accelerates development of modern industrial system with unique advantages

North China's Shanxi province is accelerating the transformation and upgrading of its traditional advantageous industries while actively developing new quality productive forces to build a modern industrial system with multiple industrial pillars, complementary advantages, diverse market support, and strong internal competitiveness.
The province is specifically transforming and upgrading its energy, materials, and chemicals industries; developing and expanding four new emerging industries, including high-end equipment manufacturing, modern consumer goods, electronics and information, and comprehensive utilization of waste resources; and making forward-looking plans for four future industries, namely high-speed vehicles, green hydrogen energy, quantum information, and advanced materials.
Meanwhile, Shanxi is actively implementing a series of supportive policies to strengthen industrial clusters and optimize its industrial layout. This has resulted in a tiered development model with 16 key industrial chains, 37 chain-leader enterprises, 77 core enterprises on the chains, and "18+74" professional towns across the province.
The province is also promoting the revitalization and upgrading of its manufacturing industry by strengthening its efforts in three key areas – industrial technological innovation, green and low-carbon transformation, and the deep integration of the digital and real economies.
Since last year, Shanxi has cultivated 52 new provincial-level enterprise technology centers, while enterprises are actively engaged in key and generic technological research and development and accelerating the advancement of 150 key technologies and 130 key projects.
The province has also established 23 new green factories, with one new green industrial park and two national green data centers, and the comprehensive utilization of waste resources has grown by 65.6 percent.
