According to Taiyuan Customs, North China's Shanxi province's cargo exports totaled 46.05 billion yuan ($6.33 billion) in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 26.3 percent.
Specifically, electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products achieved a total export value of 1.04 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 97 percent, far exceeding that of traditional export commodities and becoming three new engines for the province's foreign trade growth.
The electric vehicles, with their high cost-effectiveness and excellent technical performance, have attracted much attention in international markets, especially European and North America. At the same time, as key components in mobile phones, electric vehicles, and renewable energy, lithium batteries and solar panels are also showing strong growth momentum in exports.
In addition, since the beginning of this year, Taiyuan Customs has implemented a "menu-style" regulatory service for industries and enterprises, optimizing the inspection and release process and helping enterprises improve their order fulfillment capabilities.
Furthermore, Taiyuan Customs also encourages and supports photovoltaic enterprises to actively promote the transformation and upgrading of the energy industry. As a result, in the first five months of this year, Shanxi exported photovoltaic products worth a total of 917 million yuan, marking a new record high.
Zuo Yunwei, deputy director of the statistical analysis department of Taiyuan Customs, said that Taiyuan Customs will continue to explore new growth engines and provide high-quality and efficient statistical services for Shanxi's local enterprises to open up international markets and strive for high-end orders.
